About Barcelonines
Behind Barcelonines is me, Gaudys. Fashion designer since 1997. Daughter of Irene, the seamstress of the neighborhood where I was born and raised surrounded by fabric, buttons, needles and threads and the unmistakable sound of an old sewing machine. At the age of 8 I start making clothes for my dolls. Hence my passion for the trade. Over time, the idea of making a rag doll arises. Such was the result that I decided to dedicate myself to the trade of making rag dolls. Inspired by the city that adopted me more than 20 years ago (Barcelona, Spain) and after doing extensive research on how women in Catalonia used to dress. I find myself with a character full of firmness and elegance and who was affectionately called La Pubilla. It was only necessary to put the face of my little daughter Camila on it and that is when Barcelonines was born in 2013 (nines in Catalan are dolls.) The idea grew until it reached the point of opening a store at street level in the emblematic neighborhood of Sant Pere la Ribera, where tourists and residents could find the adorable and authentic Pubilla de Barcelona. My creativity did not stop and today Barcelonines has more than 10 different models of rag dolls made by hand and with attention to detail and the materials used to make them. The physical store gave me a lot of satisfaction, being able to see the happy faces of my little clients filled me fully and it was the best payment. But the time comes to close the doors to the public and of course I couldn't stop offering my products. And that's when... barceloninesonline.com was born, a window always open to the possibility of having and being able to enjoy the entire collection. When luckily there is a lot of demand, I go to my faithful assistant and best friend Maribel. With her good work, she is a fundamental piece within Barcelonines. Thank you very much Maribel..! Barcelonines is a healthy toy that invites the little ones to resume the tradition of playing with rag dolls or it is simply the fact of having an exclusive design piece as decoration. This is my magical world Barcelonines, products that offer quality, durability and respect for our planet. Principles by which I govern myself and to which I am faithful in every stitch.
